Product Description

What would cause an eighteen-year-old high school homecoming queen and senior class president to drop everything and move to Uganda to live with some of the poorest people in the world? Only love, and a desire to follow Jesus wherever He leads, could make a young woman choose this path. And Katie Davis did just that, forgoing a college education, disappointing her parents and boyfriend, to teach and care for children half a world away.
In Kisses from Katie, Katie Davis shares her journey of radical love that lead her from a short-term missions trip in 2006, to adopting 13 Ugandan girls and starting a ministry that feeds and teaches hundreds of children every day. It hasn't always been an easy choice for Katie, but the joy of serving the people of Uganda brings a deeper sense of fulfillment. Her remarkable story will inspire you to believe that every life is precious and you can make a difference wherever you are.

Publisher's Description

The New York Times bestslling account of a courageous eighteen-year-old from Nashville who gave up every comfort and convenience to become the adoptive mother to thirteen girls in Uganda.

What would cause an eighteen-year-old senior class president and homecoming queen from Nashville, Tennessee, to disobey and disappoint her parents by forgoing college, break her little brother’s heart, lose all but a handful of her friends (because they think she has gone off the deep end), and break up with the love of her life, all so she could move to Uganda, where she knew only one person and didn’t even speak the language?

A passion to follow Jesus.

Katie Davis left over Christmas break of her senior year for a short mission trip to Uganda and her life was turned completely inside out. She found herself so moved by the people of Uganda and the needs she saw that she knew her calling was to return and care for them. Katie, a charismatic and articulate young woman, is in the process of adopting thirteen children in Uganda and has established a ministry, Amazima, that feeds and sends hundreds more to school while teaching them the Word of Jesus Christ.

Kisses from Katie invites readers on a journey of radical love down the red dirt roads of Uganda. You’ll laugh and cry with Katie as she follows Jesus into the impossible and finds joy and beauty beneath the dust. Katie and her children delight in saying yes to the people God places in front of them and challenge readers to do the same, changing the world one person at a time.

I was already familiar with Amazima through Katie's blog before reading the book. Her story of how God brought the people of Uganda into her life and how the ministry developed is gripping and powerful. You will meet Katie, but even more importantly, you will see Katie's God and be encouraged. We had the opportunity to visit Amazima and the ministry is wonderful, with amazing servants with sacrificial and loving hearts. Please read this, give copies to friends and support this work of making disciples of Christ.

I really loved this book. What a great biography. Made me feel sad that I don't trust God as much as her but also inspired me to trust God as much as her. It was amazing to see what happens when you fully trust God. I highly recommend it.

I am currently reading this book and can't put it down. Hard to believe that such a young person so readily answered God's call. What a shining example for us all! If each of us gave even a small percentage of what Katie has given of herself, it is unfathomable what could be achieved for those who are suffering in our world.

I loved this book! What an awesome testimony this young girl has. I read the book and passed it on to one of the young ladies in our church. I plan to pass it on to any of our teens that would like to read it. May we all take heed of Katie's message.
