My son actually enjoys math and has good retention, but he struggles with concept development. These books offer the material in a short, incremental approach that really helps my son understand the material.
My son really confused factors and multiples. His work always reflected that. We started this series with Book 2, and he has had several 'aha!' moments. He finally understood the purpose of factoring. That was a huge win.
The practice is more than adequate for retention for most students, but it doesn't seem like overkill. My kid dislikes what he considers work without a legitimate purpose, and he hasn't complained about this math series yet.
He has had trouble with geometry, too, and he asked me to order the geometry series. Yay!
I would like to recommend not only Key To Fractions series, but also the decimal, percents, and measurements from Key. This is the make sense way to learn these subjects. My son had no problem learning any of the subjects. I'll let you know how Algebra goes using Key To Algebra.
Iam also a fan of the Singapore math books. I use the Singapore math as well. Using both curriculums makes for a very well rounded math student!
This is a wonderful way to teach fractions. It is easy to follow and my daughter was able to complete the lessons with little help from me. She has a solid understanding of fractions now and I am very happy with this product. Perfect!
