Located in: N. Ireland Submitted: April 17, 2008 Tell us a little about yourself. Kristyn and I are from Ireland, got married, decided to give up our work in music and focus on hymns and moved to Switzerland for a year. After that we moved somewhere even cooler than Ireland and the Alps - Cleveland, Ohio. What was your motivation behind this project? Once we moved, people wanted a CD of Kristyn singing the songs that were best known in churches and we had only made a few custom records with multiple artists back in UK with our previous UK label. Kristyn had never recorded "In Christ Alone" and "Jesus draw me ever nearer" before and wanted to do fresh recordings of "Power of the Cross", "Higher Throne" etc. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The songs all look at different aspects of Christ's life and ministry so ultimately to find people inspired, encouraged, challenged and humbled by being exposed to the truths of Christ. We hope the CD will be a starting point for churches in that respect in that they will then begin to use the songs as part of their regular church worship each week. How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As the songs were written over several years I would say it was much more the conviction of the reality of Christ in the world which changed everything - whether we are considering atheism, other religious or philosophical belief systems or just materialism, Christ's life, death and resurrection does not give us those options. The project itself was scary - it was our first record under the Getty Music Label so the actual record making process was a terrifying and well beyond our skill set! Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? As hymn writers we have learned a great deal from Stuart Townend and much of our inspiration comes from local church - our pastor Alistair Begg has been a great encouragement. We listen to a wide range of music - usually what inspires me is great melody whether folk, pop, classical, broadway or old hymns or rugby songs (sung on the rare occassions Ireland actually win). My wife is into English Literature and reads a lot. Currently we are reading Tim Keller's "Reason for God" Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Thanks for the interest in the project!! Find Related Products
