In Soul Keeping, John Ortberg helps Christians rediscover their soulthe best connection to God there isand find out why its hurting and why neglecting it has set so many believers so far back spiritually.
In this six-session, video-based small group Bible study, Ortberg shows that caring for your soul is necessary for your Christian life. John shows participants what your soul is, why it is important, how to assess your souls health, and how to care for it so that we can have a meaningful and beautiful life with God and others.
When you nurture your soul your life in this world will come to make sense again; you can find your way back to God from hopelessness, depression, relationship struggles, and a lack of fulfillment. Your souls resting place is in God, and John Ortberg wants to take participants to that home. This study guide includes discussion questions, video notes, and in-between studies and is designed for use with the Soul Keeping DVD (sold separately).

Mark S5 Stars Out Of 5This is a great studyOctober 4, 2014Mark SQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5You get to know John and Dallas Willard, great followers of Jesus. The study really helps make you aware of the care you take of your soul and how to just be more aware of the presence of God in the everyday. I will do this study again in the future and want to read some of Dallas' writings.
tdae12345 Stars Out Of 5Soul GoldMay 14, 2014tdae1234Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Soul. We sing about it (it is well, with my_). We talk about it (Salvation of our soul). We eat food and listen to music about it. But one wonders if we really understand the importance of the soul and how everything in life of value revolves around soul keeping.
John Ortberg writes about the soul with many learnings from his friend and mentor Dallas Willard. He takes us on a journey from understanding what the soul is not, to understanding what the soul is. He then shows what damages the soul and what helps nourish the soul. Some of the chapters on what the soul needs include: the soul needs blessing, freedom, to be with God, a future, a centre, gratitude and satisfaction. Towards the end of the book, it has what I believe is its best chapter and worth the price of the book: The Dark Night of the Soul.
This is a deep book. It would lose its value by being read quickly. It is highly recommended by those who want to better understand and care for their soul. While written with easy to understand terms, it is not an easy read if one wants to care for their soul. It uses Scripture accurately and help open up understanding on the soul.
What Dallas was to John, John is to me and many of his readers. If you want to grow deep and care for your soul, I recommend this book.
