The core of this program is the K92 PhonicsWorks tile kit, which contains letters and letter combinations that represent sounds. Children use the magnetized tiles to manipulate sounds and letters in fun activities that combine visual, auditory, tactile, and oral learning, helping children understand how speech is represented in print.

The teacher's guide CD-ROM supplements the Phonics 1 student pages with detailed teacher instructions and step-by-step guidance; each lesson is organized by unit and placed in the order you'll use them. Assessment answer keys follow each unit.

Two "Phonics 1" student books are divided between two semesters and provide practice activities and assessments that help children move beyond phonological awareness to spelling activities, patterns, and sight words.
