Just Like Jesus - A Review
Max Lucado has two book with this same title. The [[ASIN:084994743X the first]] is a readable book drawing us to be to be followers of Jesus. [[ASIN:0849948509 The second]] takes much of the same material and rewrites it for use as a 30 day devotional. Though much of the same material exists in both volumes, they are not word for word duplicates. On the other hand, if the reader's interest is in reading a Max Lucado book, only one of these books needs to be chosen. It might be useful for a small group or church to offer both books, allowing each participant to choose the format most comfortable for each individual.
The books allows the reader to examine what it means to be a follower of Jesus - and, like most of Lucado's book, is very practical and down to earth. Conservative and biblical, the book, like most of Lucado's work, is full of modern stories, anecdotes, and parables. It is the stories, anecdotes, and parables, that make both books so inviting to the reader. The stories are set amidst scripture - both presented as stories and as truths that will define our faith.
Having worked through both books, I prefered the devotional format - but that is really a result of who I am rather than on one book being better than the other. Just Like Jesus will allow us to examine our lives - whether as a monograph or as a daily devotional.

Just Like Jesus: A Heart Like His, written by Max Lucado, is a book that asks its reader to consider what their lives would look like if, for one day and one night, Jesus were to live their lives with His heart.
To become like Christ, is the desire that God has for all Christians. This begins within our greatest life sustaining organ, our hearts. If we gain the heart of God, if we gain the heart of Christ, then we shall have a great impact upon this world for the glory of God and the edification of man.
While this is simply stated it, at times, is very difficult to see to fruition. Questions arise: How does this change occur? When it begins, why does it seem to be taking so long? Why, after all this time of trying, do I still feel just like me? While these questions seem to rotate through our minds leaving us, at times, wondering about our witness, wondering about our purpose on this earth, they can be simply answered and released.
Max, within this publication, answers all of these questions with power and direction. He guides his readers into understanding what their hearts represent and what it can become if Christ is allowed to rule within their lives.
This publication is an amazing read that is sure to change your heart into a motivated tool to be utilized by God, thus it is a recommended read for all who seriously desire to expand their faith and witness.

Excellent Book!
This is such a great book and I found it very easy to read! If our goal as Christians is to become just like Jesus, how do we go about doing that? In this book, Max Lucado shows you how to do just that in a way that is easy to understand!
If Jesus walked in our shoes and nothing in our life had changed, our circumstances and our problems that we face stayed the same but Jesus was living our life with His own heart, would our attitude and behavior change? Would our family and friends notice a difference in us? Would we love our enemies?
A chapter in this book that really hit home with me is the second chapter: Loving the People You Are Stuck With - A Forgiving Heart. Jesus' disciples were as close to Him as family but they questioned Him, cursed Him, and betrayed Him. And Jesus forgave them for all the wrongdoings they had done! We must follow His example and forgive when someone wrongs us as well!
Jesus wasn't guilty and still forgave everybody that wronged Him. So even though we may not be the guilty party, we must follow Jesus' and forgive the people that wrong us!
In the book you will find numerous examples of how we can have a heart like Jesus. We should continually look to Jesus and try to live the way He did.
I highly recommend this book!

stuckitis
God is really working on me with grace right now apparently.
And after reading the first page of the introduction, I realized I had read that book before. So I went to my favorite chapter from that book ⦠and remembered reading about âÂÂStuckititsâ â¦ the condition of being âÂÂstuckâ in a relationship you didnâÂÂt really understand fully until it was too late. I remember reading this the first time when I was very sick, in physical pain, and wondering why it was that God put me in that situation.
Then I continued reading about how Jesus washed His Disciplesâ feet ⦠all 24 feet of the men who had followed Him around for 3+ years. INCLUDING Judas. INCLUDING Peter. INCLUDING Thomas.
Judas who would betray Jesus to the soldiers who were trying to capture Him.
Peter who would deny knowing Jesus after His arrest.
Thomas who doubted Jesusâ resurrection until Jesus showed him where the nails had been.
For me, back then, the relationship wasnâÂÂt a person. It was a thing. It was a horrible disease. I beat that disease. In April, I will celebrate 8 years of being cancer-free.
