Are you in sales? Need something to inspire you in this economy to help you press on? Do you find yourself having to choose between your "christian"ethics and making deal happen? Christopher Cunningham knows how you feel and his latest work is an attempt to solve that problem.
I give this book 3 stars! I really liked the concept of this book and I was really looking forward to reading it. The idea of adapting a secular military field manual to the world of sales with a christian spin seemed like a recipe for success. For me personally, I was sicked to get my hands on the book being that I am a christian, a salesman, and a Navy vet. Unfortunately, I don't feel the author did what he set out to do. While there are some good tips and tactics the tri-weave of sales, bible, and field manual just wasn't there. While I really liked the idea of combining all three topics and that is one of the things that sets this book apart from others the author just didn't pull it off. Each day it felt the author focus the topics together instead of fitting them together making a complete puzzle like in a jigsaw.

The book is like the popular books available in the market which can help the reader understand more about themselves because they can write their feelings towards every day topics that they have read. I totally recommend this book to my friends who are in sales and in business because this book is a great way to re-discover our Christian values and maintain it.

It also includes a second part to the book titled "Jungle Warfare, Field Support" with additional questions, scripture and quotes to help support the individual in the area of their faith while working a job in sales. Each days devotions take about fifteen minutes total with reading and answering questions to help you focus on the subject of that day. The reading is simple.
I found "Jungle Warfare" rather hard to want to read. I have been in sales before and was reading this book for incite and possible help to pass along to my oldest brother who is now in sales to support his family. It was easy to not pick the book up. I do believe that this book would appeal more to the male readers than female, possibly because of the way that we are each created. Some of Cunningham's writing is okay but the overall mass of the book really preys on the emotions of the reader (over the top). I believe that most of the devotions are very sugar coated and lack the reality and honesty of what it takes to endure as a Christian in any business venture.
I do have one quote from the book that I did enjoy and I will share it with you,
"Remember, God gave you the talents you have, your wealth and the people you care about. But you cannot let anything come before your love of God, or He might choose to remove it to regain your focus on him (page 30)."
Really I think that if the author would have focused on this statement the over all effect of the devotional would have been more focused and have had a deeper result of the time spent studying this subject.

Although I am not in sales, I found this book applicable to my own daily life.
What makes this book unique is the use of Mr. Cunningham's grandfather's World War II basic field manual for jungle warfare. I found this interesting and attractive, since my own grandfather served in World War II. The book is separated into two sections, with the first section including the Bible study and the second section dedicated to questions and answers. Each day of the Bible study begins with a section from the field manual, which is then followed by Bible passages and a lesson on how to apply both the field guide and the Bible study to your every day life. The question and answer section brings up topics that concern salesmen such as "What if my customers don't like me?" With scripturally based answers.
I found this to be a very interesting book from start to finish. And as I mentioned earlier, even though I am not in sales, I found many ideas I can apply to my life. I would recommend it to any Christian salesman, or anyone who is interested in World War II.
