The activities in this book are a challenging and fun way to have your students study the countries of the world and share their knowledge with parents, students, and community. The lessons may be used with gifted learners in pull-out or self-contained programs or with students in regular classrooms. The book is written in outline-type format that guides the students in selecting a country of interest and in completing an independent research project. A special feature of the book is the Creative Thinking Section, which provides many opportunities for the students to develop higher-level thinking skills. Based on Bloom's Taxonomy and Williams' Model, skills such as fluent thinking, flexible thinking, originality, risk taking, analysis and evaluation are stressed. Another special feature is the International Featival Section, which is an exciting culmination of the students' "Journey Around the World." The activities in this section provide step-by-step preparation for a Fair. Teachers may choose to include any or all of the activities. Parents and students from other classes may be invited to view the results of the students' efforts. Included in this section are thank-you notes, a certificate of participation, and an evaluation form. Softcover, 80 reproducible pages.
