PKY5 Stars Out Of 5Great adaptation of the bookAugust 4, 2014PKYQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5To reviews commenting that the movie doesn't address sin in relation to God, I'd suggest reading the book. The book's main emphasis and that of the movie is that Jesus came and impacted the lives of people in positive ways through his love for them. The book is an excellent read and the movie is an excellent adaptation of the book. Watching it, one can't help but wonder what it might be like were Jesus to walk into your town today. Tony Goldwyn and F. Murray Abraham are both great actors who support the excellent writing. Watching the movie is well worth your time.

The movie hit the nose of showing Jesus's love. However, the movie neglected one important part of the gospel message. A priest asked him a legitimate question about sin, but in the movie, Jesus was shown to ignore that question, saying that God is loving. Of course God is loving. But, the movie did not answer the question about sin in relation to God's justice. The Bible is FULL of instances where God could not and did not tolerate sin. Christ warns so many times about hell in the New Testament. He love us so much that He died for the sins we committed: lying, stealing, lustful thoughts, hate, cursing, you name it--we probably did it or thought about it. And, that is why Jesus is so loving to die for our sins in our place and rose again the third day. Those who go to heaven are those who put their trust in Him and turn from sin to live for Him. Belief and trust in Christ is not the kind that will get someone to heaven if it is just head knowledge (James 2:19 - You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe and shudder). True belief and trust is trusting in God alone for eternal life, not our good deeds or the good person image we have of ourselves. If we could save ourselves, why did Jesus come down and die? He died because no one could pay the penalty for sin unless they spent an eternity in hell doing it. How great a mercy God has shown in sending Christ to save us. I wish that this was the aspect the movie showed about Christ, but it did not.
