For better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health...
Anyone who has been married has said these words, or made a similar vow to their spouse. And yet, the painful reality is that half of all marriages end in divorce. Knowing this makes the marriage between Joni and Ken Eareckson Tada all the more remarkable. In their thirty years of marriage they've faced quadriplegia, depression, chronic pain and cancer together. In their weakness God has shown His strength and given them the grace to love and serve each other.
In Joni & Ken: An Untold Love Story, the Tada's share the journey of their marriage, from their first dinner date in 1980, to the present day as Joni survived breast cancer. Their story is not a love story you'll see at the movies, or read in a novel, but it's the truest kind, filled with commitment, sacrifice, and faith that defies the odds. As you read, you'll discover God's immeasurable grace to face your daily trials and to love those in your life as He does.

This is the true love story of Joni and her husband of 30 years, Ken Tada. A love story showing what it truly means for a man and a woman to live in love in sickness and in health.
Even the honeymoon wasnt easy. Did Ken realize what he was getting into when he proposed to Joni, a quadriplegic woman? As their marriage years moved on, Ken became increasingly overwhelmed by the never-ceasing demands of caring for Joni, who begins to experience chronic, extreme, nightmarish pain. Ken sinks into depression, and the couple finds themselves on parallel tracks in life, married and living under the same roof but drifting apart emotionally.
But as they fight for their marriage and find their way through the mazes of depression and pain, they wrap their two lives around their rockJesus.
During Kens denial of Jonis diagnosis, and Jonis thoughts of how wonderful a quick exit to heaven would be, they experience a personal visitation with the savior you will never forget.
Ken Tada recently retired from thirty-two years of teaching and has come on board with Joni and Friends to serve as Director of Ministry Development. A truly inspiring story, I expected a good love story but it was truly better than I ever expected. I appreciated the candid real life problems they have gone through and are still facing with courage, honesty and the strength that can only come from the Lord. It puts a new perspective on my marriage that with the Lord all things are really possible and He will give us the love to conquer. I have added Joni and Ken to my prayer list.

poetrygirlArizonaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Best Joni book ever! Cocooned in God's love...September 30, 2013poetrygirlArizonaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I read the very first Joni book in 1980-81. Then I went on to read 'A Step Further' (her second book), which was an amazing book as Joni shared her frustrations and growth in God. As the years passed I read some of her devotionals and then another favorite, 'When God weeps,' was also excellent... I have seen her movie (by World wide pictures) multiple times and have heard her speak in my area in person at a seminar. This book, 'Joni and Ken, an untold love story,' is one that came into my life when I was struggling with being a mom of a son with mental health challenges, and provided exactly the Godly hope and spirit-filled medicine that I needed. This book I believe is her best one yet, and is so partly because of Ken Tada's humility and obedience to the Lord as he grows in God, as God's man -- this journey is detailed in this book. As always, Joni speaks with candor and grace; and Ken provides humor, love, and an amazing godly love for Joni that is humbling... Any Christian that is willing to have an ear to hear can learn, grow, and best of all feel God's love from this very superbly told story. I will be reading this story as a resource when hurting-many times again to remind myself of God's great love, not only for Joni and Ken, but for me too! This book is great for couples for singles who are struggling with any type of pain in their life. Just reading the list of folks who endorse this book is pretty incredible and really speaks to the testimony within its pages.
