I really enjoyed reading this book with my son. It gives a good description of the times and what people may have been going thru. My son really enjoyed reading this book because it was from a boys point of view. August 30, 2011

I really enjoyed this book when I was young, and read it several times. It brought the historical period of the revolution to life for me, and inspired continued independent study. This book would be a good companion for a trip to Boston to see some of the historic places mentioned in the book.Although it is not written from an explicitly Christian perspective, this book contains very little by way of objectionable material (although it is probably not for your elementary school children), and the overall morality and messages are positive. Although the story line was OK I guess, I was very dishearten by the use of profanity, slang terms, and the use of gory details that just didn't need to be there. I would not let my child read this book because of it. The profanity and slang terms were not needed. If you don't have time to read the book check out these pages 5, 26, 37, 49, 70, 108, 115, 121, 128, 129, 146, 168, 193, 212, 214, 222, 235, 236, 245, 246, 278, 286, 301, & 308. Page numbers may be different in different versions. Please feel free to email for details. I know we each view things differently so you be the judge. I also was not impressed with the so called change in Johnny. It is not attributed to God in any way it is as if he himself changed on his own and we know change is only possible though God.
