Product Description

This mid-1800s tale begins with seventeen-year-old Joelle Jones fending off unwelcome advances from her predatory stepfather just after her mother died. When the man is declared Joelle's legal guardian, she knows he will have his way with her, so in desperation runs away.
Pursued by the stepfather who offers a reward for her return, Joelle cuts her long beautiful hair, poses as a young man, and finds work as a stablehand. She meets a spiritually frustrated treasure hunter who--believing Joelle to be a male--invites her to join a wagon train to gold-rich California. But hard living on the trail makes it harder for Joelle to conceal her identity. When her traveling companion learns the truth, matters of faith and friendship become tense until Joelle helps him realize that God can indeed do all things, and that some things--like true love-are worth even more than gold.

Another great book about our pioneer history. You get a real taste of the culture, hardships, personalities, and hopes. It makes you feel like you are riding along with them. Great book.

It was light reading and entertaining. I enjoyed it, although there were some similarities to other books I have read. I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't want anything too intense.

The story had good potential, but it was so similar to the other two books of Morris' Wagon Wheel Series. Many of the characters, plot twists and details are almost identical to the previous two books. If I had not read the two previous books, it would have been a great read.

I have this book on hand, however, I have not read it at this time. I always look for and recommend any book written by Gilbert Morris. They are all inspirational. Even at the beginning, someone is without God, they are always won over and become a Christian at the end. I know the rating will be at the top as all of his books are.
