Product DescriptionEvery story whispers his name. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation--and at the center of their own story too! The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of all is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. From Noah, to Moses, to the great King David--every story points to him. He is the missing piece to the puzzle--the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. The Jesus Storybook Bible makes an excellent gift at Christmas, when we all remember that he is the puzzle piece that makes all the other pieces in our lives fit. Recommended for ages 4 to 8. The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name disproves the adage that you can't judge a book by its cover. Jago's award-winning cover art is a foretaste of the whimsically insightful and richly colored drawings that await you on every one of the book's 351 pages. The illustrations alone are worth the price of the book. Finish the Article Editorial ReviewsProduct ReviewsProduct Q&AOther Customers Also PurchasedAuthor/Artist ReviewAuthor: Sally Lloyd-Jones
Located in: New York, New York Submitted: June 19, 2007 Tell us a little about yourself. I am a British born children's book writer living in New York City. I came to the States from the UK in 1989--just for a year. I"m still here. I have worked for several years as the publisher of Christian Children's Books for Reader's Digest before leaving in 2000 to write full time. I have written three other best-selling children's Bibles: Baby's First Bible; A Child's First Bible; and The Lift-The-Flap Bible. I can be found at sallylloyd-jones.com What was your motivation behind this project? I wrote this so children could know that God is for them and loves them with a Never Stopping, Never Giving up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories of the Bible. It takes the whole Bible to tell the Story. And at the center of the Story, there is a baby, the Child upon whom everything would depend. From Noah to Moses to King David, every story whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? As far as writers go: C S Lewis, Edward Lear, A A Milne, James Marshall, to name just a very few... and teachers: Dr Timothy Keller, pastor of my church in New York City; Fredreck Buechner; Helmut Thielecke; Brennan Manning Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Excerpted from The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones, Jago. Copyright © 2007. Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. "It's like an adventure story about a young Hero who came from a far country to win back his lost treasure. It's a love story about a brave Prince who leaves his palace, his throne, everything to rescue the one he loves. It's like the most wonderful of fairy tales that have come true in real life. You see, the best thing about this story is--it's true. It takes the whole Bible to tell this story. And at the center of the Story there is a baby. Every story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture. And this is no ordinary baby. This is the Child upon whom everything would depend. This is the baby that would one day-- but wait, our story starts where all good stories start. Right at the very beginning..."
