Follow Me is just okay to me. There are some good points throughout the book, but I really didn't feel a connection with the author. I felt like he was judgmental at times and I found it to be irritating. I did find some of his stories of faith to be good. And it did have me thinking, as well. Overall, in my opinion the book was half good and half okay.
I was shocked by the length (or lack of) of this book. I was expecting an in-depth Bible study and instead it was a short devotional of sorts.
In spite of the shortness of the booklet, the author made a couple of statements that struck me right between the eyes. Speaking of Jesus disciples, he writes, They eagerly, willingly, and gladly lost their lives in order to know, follow, and proclaim him. In the footsteps of Jesus, these first disciples discovered a path worth giving their lives to tread. In describing churches today, the author writes Churches are filled with people who seem content to have casual association with Christ and give nominal adherence to Christianity.
Ouch! How true this is for many of us from time to time. All Christians need to ask themselves what did Jesus really mean when he said follow me?
This is a short book that can explain to newbies or refresh the faith of experienced believers. It clarifies and emphasizes pertinent Scriptures. It is useful to renew your focus on the important things and point you in Gods direction.
I enjoyed this book and its a quick read. I think its useful for someone that is new to the bible or a new Christian. For people like myself that has read many non-fiction books over the years and its a great reminder to follow Jesus and put Jesus first.
'Follow Me' is a quick read that is jam packed with both truth and encouragement. Mr. Platt has a clear and concise way of communicating that will speak to all learning types. This booklet could easily be used as a way to share your faith, or simply as an encouragement to you teaching some basic principles so central to following Christ, yet they are easily ignored or set aside for many. It is convicting in the best way possible. I can easily recommend it - you'll likely want/need more than just one!!
