Publisher's Description

Crunching more data may be helpful but will not revolutionize, let alone save, a declining church. We need creative thinking done by people who are not afraid to face the institutional church.

Indeed, the change we long for is already happening. It is happening on the margins in ministries to the least, the last, and the lost. Written by two creative pastors with different but successful ministries, this breathtaking book will show you how the church can live out its mission and ignite a movement.

If we pay attention, we can let this Jesus Insurgency create new life.

Author Bio

Dottie Escobedo-Frank was called to ministry when she was eight years old. As the daughter of missionaries to Mexico, and a Lutheran pastor, she knew the life of ministry was complex. Her first response to God's call was an immediate, "No way!" Marriage (to Dr. Jim Frank), raising children (Elizabeth, Sara, Natalie, and Andrew), and social work (earning her MSW and CISW, with a focus on pediatric and medical social work) kept her busy for 15 years. Then, while vacationing in Mazatlan, Mexico, Dottie experienced a "recall" event, and, this time, went straight to seminary. She earned her MDiv from Claremont School of Theology. Dottie is an elder of the Desert Southwest Annual Conference. She has served as pastor at Liberty UMC, Mission Bell UMC, Community Church of Joy (a Lutheran congregation), and is currently at CrossRoads UMC. Her work has been centered on revitalization, worship and preaching, and multicultural ministry. She is a speaker and writer, authoring Sermon Seeds, Advent and Christmas, the Igniting Worship Series, and Creative Worship, A Video Workshop for Worship Leaders and Teams, all published by Abingdon Press. Dottie earned a D.Min. from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in 2012. Dottie has a passion for the church and is a voice calling for a new imagination of the ministry of Christ in the world.
