Author BioChristianBookPreviews.comIn Jesus Freaks Vol. 2 by dcTalk, readers will find the stories are as real and heart clenching in the second volume as the first--volume two just picks up where volume one left off.
The Jesus Freaks books were compiled by the members of dcTalk (Michael Tait, Kevin Max, and Toby McKeehan). The second volume focuses more the theme of revolutionaries. In fact, the subtitle of the book is holds a great deal of strength: stories of revolutionaries who changed their world: fearing God, not man. It will challenge readers to become revolutionaries themselves as they journey through the stories of people who died for the faith tragically, and those who changed history because of their revolutionary mindset. Martin Luther is a great example as he did not die a tragic, gruesome death, for a heart attack took his life; but he was a revolutionary just the same. In addition, this volume elaborates on church history, including insight on Nero, the Caesar who started the massive Christian slaughtering, and puts into context the Christian martyrs under his reign. The authors also present ten life applications that the reader can employ to become a revolutionary (adopted from pages 300-309): live the five loves; always go directly to the source; get connected; adopt transformational thinking; live it, dont just say it; mess up; dont accept face value; stand up for what you believe; remember the B.A.S.I.C.S.; your mission should you choose to accept it, accept it. It is easy to find these characteristics in the revolutionaries mentioned in Jesus Freaks. These were men and women who ultimately lived out these principles, but most importantly, lived by the philosophy of fearing God rather than man. Matthew 10:28 would be a great theme verse for this book Do not fear those who can destroy the body and not the soul, but fear the One who can destroy both body and the soul. I thought this book was magnificent. I strongly recommend reading Jesus Freaks Vol. 2 along with your daily devotions, as it presents a well-rounded picture of the great icons in the Bible.
