I did not like this movie one bit. It was extremely inaccurate. Mary, Lazarus's sister, and Jesus had a crush on one another in the beginning of the movie which was really strange. Jesus was portrayed as someone very insecure and who had no idea what His mission was. His mother Mary had to practically push Him out of the house so He would find His mission. His first encounter with the first disciples doesn't follow the Bible (John 1:35-39), he asks them, "What do you want?" and when they ask they want to know where he lives he tries to get rid of them, very strange. John the Baptist tells Jesus he can be baptized, "Only if you repent from your sins." What??? Jesus was PERFECT with no sins!! He died so he could take away our sins. At the Sermon on the Mount and Jesus sees all the people gathering to listen to Him talk, He says, "What makes you think I have anything to say?" The movie was very poor and I don't think the writers and producers of this movie even read the Bible for themselves. The acting was very disappointing, and I felt like Jeremy Sisto's acting as Jesus was disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this movie.

It is too sad that these days people still don't understand the truth in Jesus message. I will recommend this movie to my family and friends. It has been the best movie about Jesus so far. When you watch this movie make sure you also read Pope John Paul II's letter about this movie that it is in special features.

This is definitely not a Christian movie and steers far from the truth. In-fact it is anti-Christ and speaks where the Bible does not speak. I would never recommend this movie to anyone.

This is a disgusting "fantasy" of who Jesus Christ is, I would guess it was made by an atheist. I turned it off way before the character (Jesus) started flirting with a woman. It made me sick to see our Savior portrayed as a little immature boy running around with "schoolyard friends" (disciples) not knowing who he was or why he was here. And being angry at God saying Joesph was His only father is completely not Biblical. This movie is as sickening as the Di Vinci code and should be scrapped!

I saw this movie several months ago and found it absolutely enthralling. I believe this movie depicts the human side of Jesus-the God as man part that so many people have a hard time understanding. Because of that, I think it is perfect for new believers to see as long as they view it in the context of historical fiction; i.e. details are filled in where we don't have written accounts of what actually took place, much like reading a book about any other historical figure's life.
Also, in response to another reviewer, I never saw any "flirting" from Jesus. I saw a very compassionate response to a woman that loved Jesus as a man; he very gently turned her attention toward his true purpose and, in my opinion, she is transformed by the knowledge of having been so closely associated with her Messiah. This movie gives a refreshing picture of a Jesus who loved associating with "us" and living as we do--this close, companionable association is what we all yearn for and spend most of our lives trying to achieve. This movie definitely helped me down that path.

This attempt at the life of Jesus was respectful but it also added some serious extra biblical statements and ideas. For example: Jesus sees into the future were soldiers call his name during World War I. I did not have a problem with it but it was not necessary. The Devil appears in person to tempt Jesus and we simply don't know what this may have been like (i.e. it may have been only within Jesus' heart). The greatest problem with this show was when Jesus was asked if he were the only he knew the truth he replies, "others have spoken the truth besides me." This is a direct contradiction to Christ's claim to be the "way, the truth, and the life" and "no man comes to the father but by me" which he does not claim in this movie. The acting is good but it is a very flawed account of Jesus’ life with a little speculation contradicting his direct statements we have in the Gospels. I would not recommend this for new seekers or those new to the faith. Older Christians may glean some useful insights noting the flaws mentioned above.

I've watched this movie several times on VHS and am now looking for WIDESCREEN DVD. Jesus loves us all, including Mary, and, I'm sure, as a young man, may well have considered Mary for a wife. But He did not lead her on, He had a mission. This is a movie, an entertainment!!! If you want absolute truth, read the Bible! There is nothing here which places a stumbling block in anyone's way.
