On January 22, 1988, the Jerusalem Heads of Churches issued the first of what would become 68 public statements (over 20 years) on the situation of Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land. Melanie May has assembled these statements for the first time in their entirity, presenting them as a collected body of texts, or a testament, which bears witness to the following: 1) The Gospel of Jesus Christ; 2) The faith and hope of Palestinian Christians; 3) The faith of Jerusalem Christians who, as heirs of the earliest church, keep alive the testimony of Jesus; 4) The faith of the Church anew, incarnate in the lives of Christians living in the land of Jesus' birth, death, resurrection and ascension. Through the work of Melanie May, the Jerusalem Testament carries the voices of Palestinian pastors speaking out on behalf of their own people, calling Christians worldwide to a new covenant with their brothers and sisters in and near Jerusalem and throughout the Middle East.
