The Hermeneia Commentary Series is critical and scholarly in its treatment of the scriptures. This is the second of two volumes on Jeremiah by William Holladay. This volume does not contain the introductory material or bibliography of the first volume. But it does continue the in-depth linguistic and historical analysis of the text, drawing out the message and meaning of this book. A must read for any Old Testament scholar.

Holladay is one of the three commentaries to come out in 1986 (the other two were McKane and Carroll) that made serious advances in Jeremiah scholarship. One note that may help is that oddly enough the introduction is in the second volume, not the first.
