an excellent book for someone teaching James well written, Biblical, sound teaching, excellent illustrations February 16, 2012

I just used Hughes' James in preparation for a message series, 24-7 -- Real Life, Real Time, and found it an excellent resource. Very balanced exposition of the Scripture and great illustrations. One illustration, however, dealing with the cause of the Boxer Rebellion, pp.135-137, has now been shown to be a hoax. Interestingly, the fact that it was a hoax proved great for my sermon as I was able to tie it in with the "Terrible Power of the Tongue" message and the need to get our facts straight. July 21, 2007
