This series of DVDs has been an excellent resource for my Sunday School class of 5th and 6th graders. The acting is quite good, the stories most generally follow the Biblical account with some embellishments here and there, but nothing that gets "out of hand" and strays too far from the scriptures. The time travel aspect can seem a little strange and may offend some Christians of the anti-Harry Potter, anti-fantasy camp. I'm neither, but I respect that viewpoint and I wanted to make sure that I touched on that for anyone considering purchasing this series.
I wish that this Jacob's Ladder series covered the entire Bible .... I'd use these DVDs/study curriculum every Sunday. It's the perfect medium for reaching today's pre-teens; not boring handouts, but live action depictions and follow-up activities to help explain the stories. Big thumbs up.
Only two drawbacks, really, which caused me to rate this as a four-star rather than a five-star: The costumes are kind of cheesy and the sets are obviously set in the Welsh countryside and not in the Holy Land. It can be somewhat distracting, but in no way has it lessened the effectiveness of this teaching tool for my classroom.
