Product Description

With interest in Islam running high in the West, Christians can learn a great deal from the twentieth century's leading missionary to Muslims. This is why Roger S. Greenway has compiled and edited ten of Samuel Zwemer's best chapters, all taken from books long out of print, and has added an introduction providing an overview of Zwemer's life and work.

"Because his insights are not dated," writes Greenway, "Zwemer needs to be heard again." Islam and the Cross makes available "some of Zwemer's insights regarding Islam, the basic differences between Islam and Christianity, and a sense of love for Muslim people and a passion for their salvation."

Author Bio

Samuel M. Zwemer (18671952) became professor of missions at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1929. This followed a career as a missionary in the Middle East, where he spread the gospel among Muslims. He wrote more than fifty books, most of them about Islam.

Editorial Reviews

A major figure in the history of missions, Samuel Zwemer makes clear the distinctions between the gospel and Islam, and powerfully calls Christians to reach the Muslim world. Readers will discover in this unique volume material on Islam that is quite difficult to find elsewhere.
Fulfills a great need in the life of the church and its institutions, I heartily recommend it.
Zwemer’s pen once again speaks with clarity and love in a day when both are in short supply in Christian understanding of Muslims.

Zwemer spent over 50 years spreading the gospel in the Middle East and Africa. This book is a condensed approach to understanding Islam, its founder, roots, beliefs and practices. It also gives an experienced Christian apologetic for both knowing what the average Muslim thinks about Jesus, and how to elevate Jesus from another prophet to Christ.
