Demonstrates that biblical Christianity and Qur'anic Islam are two dramatically different belief systems. Features tables comparing passages from the Bible and Quran
We have heard many times in the last few years that Muslims and Christians worship the same God. But do we?
Not according to Anees Zaka and Diane Coleman in The Truth about Islam. Beginning with a discussion of the nature of Truth, Zaka and Coleman compare and contrast Muhammad and Jesus Christ, the holy books of both religions, their views of the Godhead, and the lifestyles of their adherents.
They present a straightforward discussion of the two faiths with numerous helpful tables and quotations. Their chapter on the Godhead leaves no question on whether Allah and Yahweh are the same. They raise biblical understanding of the nature of Yahweh as a relational God who reaches out to man, something Allah does not do.
Though the authors appeal to Muslims to read the book, Christians too can learn more of their own faith. Their table on Christ's divinity and the accompanying discussion will enlighten many Christians. They take a few well-deserved slaps at too many Christians' sinful living and at antinomianism in the Church. They also analyze the difficulty of establishing democracy in Muslim lands.
Their final chapter contains several brief analyses of missions' works with unbelievers based on biblical examples.
Dr. Zaka, founder and director of Church Without Walls (Presbyterian Church in America) and president of Biblical Institute for Islamic Studies, has worked with Muslims for many years. Diane Coleman has a diverse writing and working background. Together they have put together a well-written, timely, and readable comparative analysis of the two religions. The book will appeal most to those with a theological background or those who are working with or wondering about Islam. -- Debbie W. Wilson, Christian Book Previews.com
