This book is a gift from God!

      Connie Weiss
First, this book in no way, teaches a works mentality for salvation, but it will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone (and your pews) to live out the love of Christ. Jen is not trying to say that this is the only right way, in fact she says that not every church will do things the way God called her and her husband to, and that all serve a role, so it's not even about condemning other approaches to church. What she does is give an amazing example of how God put a call on her life and then details the beautiful way, God saw the call through to become a reality for His servant who wanted to be obedient to that call even though it was, at times, uncomfortable. Her writing is inspirational, spiritually sound, and humorous. I would love to meet her in person because it is obvious through her experience with the Lord and her sound understanding and fulfillment of the word lived out in her life that she is a Spirit-filled Christian and yet she is real, relevant and not a weirdo!!! No wonder God is using her to go out and "be the church". Her basis is that people are not coming to us anymore. Traditional church is not attracting people the way it used to (her research and stats will blow you away) and because of this God has called her and her husband (and many who have joined them) to go out and show the love of Christ without the main goal of getting their pews filled. Love first, then when God opens he door to share the gospel, they do. They do not shove the gospel down people's throat, condemn them for having differing beliefs or celebrating Halloween (God forbid) realizing very few souls are won by condemnation, judging and never by force, but they (like Paul) meet them where they are and simply live among "the least of these" and love them as Jesus not only instructed but demonstrated. The book will challenge you in some areas but I encourage you to read it through to the end even if there are parts that are hard to swallow or are hard to see yourself doing. If we would all take this call, I believe we would change the atmosphere and the reputation of Christianity to be what Jesus really meant for it to be....a reflection of Him!

Reading this book is like a long chat with a friend or a mentor over coffee. It's not preachy but definitely preaches. Jen shares her story with honesty, humor and passion and her words are a prophetic voice that so many of us need to hear.
