This book is outstanding. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT! When studied and properly applied it will help unlock God's Word. I normally review this book once a year to refresh the principles it contains. I have given several copies to my friends. THEY HAVE ALL THANKED ME FOR THE GIFT. If you want to really grow in your Bible study you can't go wrong with this book. Be forewarned, it does require effort on your part! BUT VERY WELL WORTH IT!

This book is excellent. It is truly for the student of the Bible. It interprets the scripture and breaks it down in bite-size pieces. This book definitely shows you how much you don't know about the Word, but in an encouraging positive manner. You feel the heart of the authors desire for us to truly know the Word of God and what He said and what it really means.

This book is great contextually. I used it to teach my hermenuetic class. However, there are too may typographical errors in such a profound book. I believe that they should take the time to proof read and edit this book. There are too many errors. This will sway people from it, and this would be a travesty.

Another book by Kevin J. Conner (with collaborator Ken Malmin) showing why he is head and shoulders above the rest in dealing with any topic he cares to address, here dealing with biblical hermeneutics -- the art of interpreting the Scriptures. Most of us come to the Bible with certain pre-conceived notions, and we can be unaware of how our minds subconsciously categorize what we read (e.g., this verse doesnt apply to me because it was written to the Jews, etc.). Yet, we are commanded (2 Tim. 2:15; Acts 17:11) to study the Bible. Interpreting the Scriptures provides help here. Instead of falling in line with popular methods of interpretation (e.g., the Dispensational, Reformed, or Baptist approaches), and attempting to stuff the Bible into the doctrinal straightjackets mandated by this denominational headquarters or that, Conner adopts the refreshing approach of letting the Bible interpret itself, a practice which was followed by the Apostles in writing the New Testament books (note their frequent allusion to the Old Testament Scriptures), and which many Christian expositors would be well-advised to follow, and which would undoubtedly be welcomed by their reading public. Conner treats of various theories of interpretation such as the Mystical, Allegorical, Devotional, Rationalistic and Literal Methods, and explores the history of different hermeneutical methods employed throughout history. He discusses the 16 qualifications necessary for the interpreter, and devotes an in-depth chapter to each of the 17 principles necessary for proper biblical interpretation, including the First-Mention, Covenantal, Ethnic-Division, Breach, Christo-Centric, Symbolic, and Allegorical Principles. As those of us who have been privileged to sit under Dr. Conners teaching ministry can testify, his deep understanding of the Bible and keen insight are in evidence here. If you want to know how to correctly interpret the Bible, this book will prove an invaluable tool.
