Author Bio

Nan Duerling holds a bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from Towson State University, a master’s in education and curriculum development from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in literature from American University. Nan is formerly an adjunct faculty member of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. For more than 20 years, she has written youth and adult curriculum for several denominations. She has been general editor of The New International Lesson Annual since 1995. Nan's hometown is Cambridge, Maryland . David Kalas is pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Appleton, Wisconsin. Born and raised in Wisconsin David is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Union Theological Seminary of Virginia.  David served in youth and pastoral ministries in Ohio and Virginia before returning to Wisconsin in 1996.  David was a contributing author to Sermons on the Gospel Readings and authored Savior on a Cross Lent 2005.  He and his wife, Karen, have two young daughters, Angela and Lydia. John Indermark is a writer and retired U.C.C. minister. He is the author of more than a dozen books, most recently The Greatest of These and Advent A to Z (co-authored with Sharon Harding). John also writes for several curriculum resources, including Feasting on the Word and New International Lesson Annual. John and his wife Judy now spend summers in Washington state and the remainder of the year in Tucson, Arizona.
