I am enjoying these books because my library is very limited on the Hebrew language and this set has greatly opened up new meaning to the words and customs of Bible times. It is very useful tool.

This set is absolutely tremendous. It is a scholar's gourmet meal. The breath of words that I presents is tremendous. After researching only a few topics, I can only wish I had purchased it long ago. The Index volume 5 is simply the iceing on the cake. For words that are used througout the other volumes are cross-referenced there for a virtually unlimited level or research.

The next best set to the Theological Dictionary of the Old Testament. The articles are detailed and clear and give one a better understanding of the meaning of words and concepts of words that are to be found in the Old Testament and Ancient Near Eastern literature. Each word is dealt with individually with full meaning and Biblical references, and cross-references to other similar words. The guide at the beginning of volume 1, and the Topical Dictionary of volume 4 are both very helpful to the study of the Old Testament. Though it may not be as detailed as the 16 volume Theological Dictionary of the Old Testament, this set with its 3,000 articles is still a good supplementary addition to any serious scholar or pastor’s library. I highly recommend it.

The best Hebrew word study available for evangelical Christians. It provides great depth in coverage of Hebrew words while avoiding the excessively liberal-critical views found in some word studies. Highly recommended for pastors, seminarians, undergaduates, and serious laymen.

I am a lay person seeking to better understand the Old Testament. I find this set to be worth more than they cost. Indepth, but not above the head of any well read individual. They have opned up the richness of the Hebrew language, and helped give understanding to my faith.
