Publisher's Description

Kaitlin Dupree never planned to remarry, but she accepts Devlin Clayborne's contract to be his wife in name only and mother to his son. As new mistress of Clayborne Manor, she finds the home mirrors the man. Both hold dark secrets. Both entertain ghosts. And no matter how much light or love she tries to bring into the recesses, Devlin seems content to walk in the shadows, tormented by whispers from long lost times.

But who haunts Clayborne Manor? The ghost that restlessly walks the halls at night? Or the silent memories that plague the minds and spirits of those in residence there?

Though not inclined to believe the dead can walk the night-laden corridors, Kaitlin can see them clearly in the eyes of her husband, Devlin, and hear them in the deafening silence of her son, Derrick. Does she have the courage to search the past and face the ghosts? Does she have the faith to stay and direct all those who dwell In the Manor of the Ghost to the one who sets the captive free?

This is a good story. Such a good story, in fact, that I overlooked a few issues with the writing that I usually cannot ignore. Despite several instances of POV (point of view) confusion, telling rather than showing and a few minor instances of misused or missing words, I was so drawn into the plot that I couldn't put it down.

The author scripts a compelling mystery that had me continuing to turn the pages. What happened to terrify a little boy so much that he will no longer speak? Who roams the halls at night, slipping in and out of the shadows? What dark secrets haunt the master of the manor, and does Kaitlin have the faith and strength it takes to flood light on all that entombs him?

This is a story of mystery, secrets, perseverance and forgiveness. The romance was sweet, building beautifully through the story, and the character's faith shines through the pages. I recommend this book to anyone who loves figuring out the mystery, and despite a few weaknesses, give this book a solid four stars.

In Tina Pinson's book, In The Manor of The Ghost, stories of ghosts haunting the Clayborne Manor abound, based on rumors that Devlin allegedly murdered someone and their ghost was crying out from the grave.

An 'arranged' marriage between Devlin Clayborne and Kaitlin DuPree seems just as ghostly, as the marriage revolves around the caretaking of Devlon's son, Derrick. Anna, Devlin's wife, had disappeared with their daughter, leaving Devlin devastated, while Kaitlin had lost her husband and daughter in a house fire three abiyears earlier.

Tina's book has an ethereal essence to it based on the prevailing palpable pain and emptiness, the long absences by Devlin, young Derrick's inability to speak since his mother and sister disappeared, and the moving shadows and eerie noises in the night. Whoever is behind the moving shadows and the reasons for them being there keeps you guessing who and why till the very end of the novel. The ending was totally unexpected. This is a well-written book with multiple personality clashes, interactions and intense emotions.

Although initially feisty about the marriage, Kaitlin agrees to marry for Derrick's sake, and prays for normalcy and reconciliation to occur between father and son, who are on non-speaking terms due to the circumstances. Kaitlin's outgoing presence and interaction with the servants is refreshing and uplifting compared to previous circumstances and rumors.

This e-book was a free Kindle book from, and is my own personal review.
