This is a wonderful little hardback edition of this classic. It is a good modern translation, no thees and thous. I am a protestant, and there is some really strange Catholic stuff in there (Our Lady of Fatima). There are a couple of color sections: The Stations of the Cross, and 3 sets of 5 mysteries. But if you can deal with a few of pages of that, the actual text of the Imitation of Christ is really nice. There are also some illustrated scenes from the Gospels (B/W) with a verse at the bottom of the page. This is perfect size for carrying and very durable. Binding is side sewn best as I can tell. Very durable.
ONLY HAD IT A SHORT TIME BUT THE MORE I READ THE MORE I WANT TO READ. IT'S AS IF IT'S WRITTEN PERSONALLY FOR ME, SO UPLIFTING AND CONCISE. IF WE ALL LIVED BY THESE GUIDELINES OUR WORLD WOULD CHANGE FROM WAR AND STRIFE TO PEACE AND HARMONY.
This version of Thomas A'Kempis classic is in an easy to read format, with the various books broken into topical chapters. The amazing thing a reader first discovers is the spiritual depth of his writings. There is no deviation from the gospels, nor a softening of the commitment to a life devoted to following and serving Christ. All Christians are urged to read this book. It helps to improve your relationship with Christ, gives guidelines on how to handle life's ups and downs, as well as how to approach God and appreciate His Sovereignty. A perfect travel size, too!
This revised version far exceeded my expectations. It is a wonderful edition of the classic for our modern times that takes nothing from the beauty of the original. It serves as a fantastic devotional and is so rich with spiritual truths.
