The cast of characters drags the reader through the streets of Seattle and ancient Judea to introduce a host of fake Jesuses: Magic 8 Ball Jesus, Harley Jesus, even Liberal Social Services Jesus. Theyre constructs of the human mind. People invent a Jesus for one specific reason and then discard him when they dont need him anymore, says one of the Jesuses (the one with an expensive suit). Peter teaches Mikalatos that he must quiet falsehoods and mold a deeper relationship with the living, historical Jesus. Mixing questions of suffering and free will with a nexus of weirdness, Mikalatos throws Christian fiction into the world of Comic-Con and Star Wars. His silly quest is startling, contemporary, meaningful, and occasionally exhausting when the reader is puzzled. It begs for a comic book counterpart. (Apr.) Copyright 2010 Reed Business Information.

this book is about matt mikalatos and his quest to find the real jesus after pete (apostle peter) shows him that his jesus is a fake. after chaseing him with the help of sandi a lady of the night, pete the apostle, and daisy the talking donkey, they find him only after going to the first century, secret society of imaginary jesuses and running from any angry mob of jesuses from a book store he finds the real jesus in the labyrinth at his church. and he seeÃ¢ÂÂs houdini dog his arch enemy.

Everyday we let the media get in our way, we watch television, listen to the radio, spend hours online and then turn around and complain that we cannot hear GodÃ¢ÂÂs voice. We complain that other people are seeing Him every day and hearing the plans He has for them, and do not understand what we are missing. Everyday instead of enjoying the silence and listening for Gods call we turn to movies and television, we turn to work and the craziness of the day rather than finding a few moments alone. Instead of searching for the reason we cannot hear Him we decide to change Jesus to fit into our lives and schedules, we change who He is and create an Ã¢ÂÂimaginary JesusÃ¢ÂÂ that suits our lifestyles and what we want out of Jesus.
Matt Mikalatos tackles this problem head on with an interesting story of learning that the Jesus he speaks to daily is actually an Ã¢ÂÂimaginaryÃ¢ÂÂ Jesus and his search in finding the true Jesus. I really do not know what to think of this book, I did not enjoy it and many times found myself wondering what in the world I was reading. I would still recommend Ã¢ÂÂImaginary JesusÃ¢ÂÂ to people though because it causes you to reevaluate and look at the barriers you have created and how you have boxed Jesus in to fit your lifestyle rather than changing your lifestyle to fit Him. It reminds us we should be chases after Jesus and that to hear His voice we need to find the time to focus on Him and to take a break from the static of our daily lives.

Excellent quality and price and shipping was fast! The book is fantastic! Very thought-provoking and a great idea to give to a non-Christian - it dispels stereotypes of Jesus in a truthful and humorous way! An easy read and highly recommended!
