DANE AND MANDY, a popular magic act for forty years, are tragically separated by a car wreck that claims Mandy's life-or so everyone thinks. Even as Dane mourns, Mandy awakes in the present as the nineteen-year-old she was in 1970. Distraught and disoriented in what to her is the future, she is confined to a mental ward until she discovers a magical ability to pass invisibly through time and space to escape. Alone in a strange world, she uses her mysterious powers to eke out a living, performing magic on the streets and in a quaint coffee shop.
Hoping to discover a new talent, Dane ventures into the shop and is transfixed by the illusions that even he, a seasoned professional, cannot explain. But more than anything, he is devastated by this teenager who doesn't know him, is certainly not in love with him, but is in every respect identical to the young beauty he first met and married some forty years earlier.
They begin a furtive relationship as mentor and protigie, but even as Dane tries to sort out who she really is and she tries to understand why she is drawn to him, they are watched by secretive interests who not only possess the answers to Mandy's powers and misplacement in time but also the roguish ability to decide what will become of her.

Diane M.5 Stars Out Of 5Memorable!June 15, 2015Diane M.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Normally I'm not a Peretti or magic fan but I loved this intriguing story. I found it unforgettable and very satisfying. The plot is highly imaginative and unpredictable. Fanciful...yes but satisfying. Too often we have God in a box and don't open to the creative possibilities He has at his disposal to bring about His will. I found this story opened me more to let God be God. Great read!
Have Jesus Will ShareSt Augustine, FLAge: Over 65Gender: male2 Stars Out Of 5Not worth reading; exception note from authorApril 11, 2014Have Jesus Will ShareSt Augustine, FLAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 2Value: 1Meets Expectations: 2I have read several of Frank Peretti's books and my favorite was Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness which I read each on two different occasions. This book Illusion is just that an illusion, a waste of time and money. I was bogged down several times in reading this book and I did not think I was ever going to finish it. It finally got my interest up when I had about 50-60 pages to go and I thought to myself, 'finally, I will finish this book.' I was wrong; for about 20-30 pages; it got exciting and then it bogged down again. I did finish the book, but I would not recommend it, however the best part of this book is found in..."a note from the author" This I would give five stars to. This was the best part of this book.
