AMERICAS MELTING POT IS BOILING OVER.
Millions of illegals strain an overburdened system. Crime rates skyrocket. From the Valley of the Sun to the halls of Congress, debate rages. All the while, murder and mayhem reign along the U.S.-Mexico border. Speaking into the fray at a timely juncture, radio talk-show host Darrell Ankarlo delivers a gripping, beyond-the-headlines look at illegal immigration: its victims, its perpetrators, and its toll on the heart of a nation and the will of her law-abiding citizens. From the hot-button state of Arizona, Ankarlo dared venture to the epicenter of the battle for Americas southern border.
Now he dares you to absorb the heartbreaking stories and eye-opening discoveries he brought back from his undercover journey without finding yourself shaken, inspired and compelled to act.
Instead of complaining about the border problem, Darrel Ankarlo set out to do something about ithe went there and lived it! In Illegals, Darrell provides a real and raw boots on the ground look at our increasingly lawless southern border. This edition . . . will make you shake your head and say no way as youre presented with true stories and experiences about life along the border. This book will enlighten you and at times frighten you, but in the end youll know better than most politicians whats really happening at the border. GLENN BECK
Busy BizAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Brutally honest eye openerDecember 10, 2010Busy BizAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Darrell Ankarlo is the kind of author who is brutally honest and exposes all the emotions that can arise with such a touch topic.
I picked up this book not knowing exactely what to expect and put it down feeling as though I had a better vision of America's future if we continue to progress as we are.
Ankarlo takes the time to walk us through the nitty gritty of immigration, both from a legal and illegal standpoint. He expresses his sadness for the rough life that many of our Mexican neighbors struggle through and the rough journey many of them attempt, not once but sometimes multiple times in hope for the "American Dream".
Although Ankarlo allows us to see his heart soften for these immigrants he also shows us his bitter side and his angry side. Indifferent is not a word that describes his feelings on this subject. This book wades through the detrimental affects that our country is and will experience if we continue to ignore this growing problem.
I left this book understand that life sucks in Mexico, the pay is little, the living conditions are meager, and the hope of America is sometimes their only hope. But I also learned that our health, programs, crime rates, etc are being jeopardized by the influx of illegals who use and abuse everything we give them.
I completely understand why those who try to arrive in America legally are frustrated, I would and should be too! They work hard to go through the necessary channels and are greeted with more paperwork and more hassle.
The treatment of the illegals as they try to get here and what they suffer is horrendous, my heart, much like the author's aches for them. Especially the children, but my heart also stands guarded feeling as though we should be protecting ourselves and teaching them to fight for their rights in their own country.
While reading this book I recieved a few downcast looks. People seem turned off by a book that in BIG BOLD letters says Illegals: The Unacceptable Cost of America's Failure to Control Its Borders. Despite the looks I recieved, I feel that by reading this book I was able to educate myself just that much more about our countires passive attitude towards border control. Whether or not I agree with all the views of the author is irrelevant, the fact that I agree with Darrell Ankarlo that we should educate ourselves though is 100% undeniable!

NightwingMalaysiaAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5This book should be a warning bell....October 28, 2010NightwingMalaysiaAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The author of this book Darrell Ankarlo really went all out in getting facts and figures, even experience firsthand on how illegal immigrants enter his country, USA from the south (Mexico). As I read the book, also think of my own country's immigrant problem. A lot that succeeded in entering America are involved in criminal acts, bringing negative social woes into America and giving legal migrants a bad name.
This book is also about the human stories on why people leave their country in harsh manner to seek greener pasture. A lot never made it. The US government knows about this problem but are not ‘doing much' because of votes. If nothing is done, future of US is not looking good.
I recommend this book to those that is in the public service. Control illegal immigrants before it gets out of hand. In my opinion I give this book a rating 5 out of 5. Once you start reading it, no putting down.

I received this complimentary copy of " Illegals" from Thomas Nelson Publishers to be reviewed. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. This book is an unbiased look at the immigration issue by someone who wants all the facts, desires to educate all parties concerned and truly loves the people involved- on both sides of the border. I am better able to discuss the issues at hand, in an informative, non-judgemental way, knowing that the issues that divide us can also bring us together to make considerable change when we know the facts and act upon them as a country. There are aspects of this book that will shock, anger and bring out the deepest compassion in you. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, pen in hand as I wrote my thoughts and feelings in the margins. I intend to recommend this book to any potential voter, friend or to one who sits undecided on the issue of immigration. Change is necessary and up to us.
julie4 Stars Out Of 5October 6, 2010julieQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Illegals by Darrell Ankarlo is about just that: people in America that are not legal citizens or on the right track to become one. Ankarlo takes the reader behind the scenes and deep into situations in Mexico and along the U.S./Mexico border, that many Americans never hear about. He also gives lots of facts about how the millions of illegal immigrants are straining our health care, legal, education, and nearly every other aspect of our "normal" American lives and lifestyles.
This book was an eye opener to me. From the news I know how illegal immigration is impacting our society but I never know how much. I thouroughly enjoyed all of Ankarlo's interviews and adventures he shares in the book. The only part I didn't enjoy was no reflection on the book--but knowing that these horrid things are happening every day and there is not much being done to stop them. This book is real. It is raw. It is a book that those in Washington need to read before it is too late to save our beautiful country from what it could, and will if Ankarlo's precitions are correct, become.
