Holy Bible - International Children's Bible is an excellent version of the Bible for Children. It is written in a way for children to understand what they are reading. This version of the Bible also has 3D colorful pictures throughout the Bible to give an illustration of certain stories that the child has read. It is written for children at about a 3rd grade and older age group. But, could easily be a Bible that parents can read to younger children.
I really liked that as I read my 5 year old could understand what I was reading to him unlike grabbing a normal Bible that has difficult words for even me to understand. I also thought the 3D pictures were amazing. Owen spent a long time just flipping through all the pictures. He would bring it to me and show me things that he thought were really neat. I believe that when my son is at a older reading level he will really enjoy reading this Bible on his own. I think that this is a great children's version of the Bible I would easily say that if you are looking for a great Bible for your 3rd grade or older child this would be a great choice.
Our Homeschool ReviewsAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5The "Big Red" Holy BibleJanuary 7, 2011Our Homeschool ReviewsAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3We completed our Bible Study this week using the "Big Red" Holy Bible, which we received in the mail several weeks ago.
According to the back cover, it is the first Bible translated especially for children (International Children's Bible: ICB).
I was a little torn about what to write for this review, so I'll begin with what I like about it.
It's a Bible! Every child should have one and I don't think it should matter what the pictures look like or what the translation is.
If you are a parent thinking of buying a Bible for your child that is great! But, if you are a parent thinking of buying this Bible for your child, here are some things to take into consideration:
* I do not think the cover will not stand up over time. We have had this Bible since Christmas and have used it for one week, and there is already significant wear on the cover and binding.
* There are no introductions to each book. Who wrote the book? Why, where, and when was it written? What is important about the book? I think these are all things that help children (and adults) understand the book they are reading.
* Although the translation is easy to read and understand, the words seem bunched together and there are no headings for certain sections, like "Adam and Eve" or "The Flood".
* There are four maps in the back but there are some missing. What about The Land of Twelve Tribes and Paul's Missionary Journeys? Those are important maps to include.
My Thoughts: I think this is a good Bible with an easy to understand translation, but I think more thought should have gone into some other details, making it a better Bible for children.

BastianReviewsAlabamaAge: 25-34Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Good for Upper Elementary KidsDecember 31, 2010BastianReviewsAlabamaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3The images on the cover are actually a bit difficult to see due to the glitter effect. Jesus is the only clear image... the rest of the characters you see above are actually pretty difficult to see.
Even though the cover might not be to my liking, the translation is very good. I will be using this translation to teach my elementary school kids during story time, but I would not use it for an actual Bible study. Even though the translation is written so that kids can understand what they are reading, I feel that some of the changes made in translation takes away the original meaning.
This Bible has a dictionary in the back with full definitions, and references to where it is mentioned in the Bible. This is a wonderful feature for youngsters... even for adults! As for the pictures in the Bible, it will definitely attract children, but as an adult, I was not a fan of the computerized characters.
Even though I was not a fan of the art inside or on the cover, I would give this book as a gift to an upper elementary school student. It is easy to read, with good size font and would be a good resource for the kids.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com <http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I wished the binding/cover was sturdier.
OneNationUnderGodAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good Bible, Just Different Than I ExpectedDecember 24, 2010OneNationUnderGodAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4This Bible was purchased for my son. I thought I was purchasing a newly-illustrated ICB Bible, like the comic-book style one I purchased for my daughter with ICB text. This is actually a normal Bible--mainly text--with some separate computer-graphics pictures slipped in periodically. If you like CG, you'll like this. Just know that it is not illustrated comic-book style with ICB text. For new readers, I really prefer the ICB comic-book style version. :)

Tell us a little about yourself. Throughout my career, I've worked as a professional artist producing dynamic images for the fine art industry. My full time work now, is illustrating stories from the Bible. I live with my wife and young family in the West of Scotland.
What was your motivation behind this project? In recent years I felt called to provide stunning Bible images to visually communicate God's word with youth throughout the world, which led to setting up Eikon Bible Art. We were delighted to take the opportunity provided by Tommy Nelson to work on the renowned 'Big Red' ICB.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The style of art produced at Eikon Bible Art is high impact, stunning and colorful - it follows the style of the 'video game culture'. The next generation need to learn and connect with treasured Bible stories that many of us grew up with, so my hope it that the new ICB will present the Word of God in a visually relevant format.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Every bible artist should give their all with each picture they illustrate, so although it was a real privilege, it was a real challenge at the same time! However, to play a part in providing a Bible that children will love, is very rewarding.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: At Eikon Bible Art, our goal is to provide state-of-the-art Bible images that anyone involved in youth ministry can use, to help children visualize the amazing events portrayed.
