Former senior editor at Readers Digest, Allia Zobel Nolan is the bestselling author of over 160 books for children and adults. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, Desmond, and their two cats.
The text of the book is written in simple rhyme patterns. The rhyme and meter are a bit stilted at times, but youngsters won't be put off by it. The artwork by Miki Sakamoto is not sophisticated, but it is colorful, and it shows children interacting with parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends their own age. Each child thanks God for something special to him or her (a stack of pancakes, some lovely daisies on a hill, the stars in the night sky). The book provides no quotes from Scripture nor any references to biblical stories, but the messages of respect for God and kindness to others gives the book a strong moral base. Dr. Dennis E.
