When a flash point of circumstances changes paramedic Terri Schuman'S life, will she be able turn to the One who sees behind the mask she wears and trust Him to heal her wounded heart?

Flashpoint Discussion Questions by Sally John

Little by little Terri discovers the reality of Romans 8:1: "There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus," which is the theme of the book.
  1. What are some of the events, situations, and people that help make this truth a reality to her?

  2. In what ways has the truth of Romans 8:1 been revealed in your own life?

  3. Terri feels unloved and unaccepted by her father. Can you identify with her feelings?

  4. How do you think your relationship with your father has affected your relationship with God, our heavenly Father?

  5. Though Terri's emotional wounds were unintentionally inflicted by her father, she must ultimately forgive him for her own sake. They are at the root cause of her self-condemnation and her inability to completely grasp God's unconditional love. She calls forgiveness a powerful weapon. What are some examples of how she forgives others? What were the results?

  6. How have you been changed through the process of forgiving someone else?

  7. Does the fact that God unconditionally loves you make a difference in your life? If so, how?

  8. Not feeling loved by her father contributed to her perceived need to wear a "macho mask." Do you feel you have mask-free communication with anyone?

  9. Terri and Gabe say there is a freedom in being loved by someone "no matter what." What do you think they mean by a freedom?

  10. Do you love someone "no matter what"? Does someone love you in that way?
