Quick Search

Enter one or more keywords, either from the author's name or from a book's title. CBD's Quick Search is not designed to search for both the author's name and the title.

Here are some examples using Quick Search:

• Entering "c.s. lewis" will find books by and about C.S. Lewis.
• Entering "lewis" finds books by and about C.S. Lewis as well as books by other authors named Lewis.
• Entering "chronicles narnia" finds The Chronicles of Narnia.

Title Search

You can search for items by using main words of the title. Although we have full titles on most of our products, searches work best when you use words from the main title and not the subtitle. It's best if you leave out common words such as "and" or "the". For example, "Horse Boy" will find "The Horse and His Boy" by C.S. Lewis. We suggest starting with just two main words-this will set wider parameters for your searches. If you get listings that are too large, try three words.

Author Search

You can search by author by entering the author's last name, or by entering the author's first and last name. With common last names (such as Smith and Jones), we suggest you use both the first name and the last name to narrow your search results list. Whenever possible, enter the author's name as it appears on their books. For instance "Clive Staples Lewis" will return no titles while "C.S. Lewis" returns many.

Keyword Search

Searching by keyword is a way to search for products when you are unsure of the specific title or author. By entering a keyword, our search engine will try to match whatever you enter against the product description of that product. Keyword searches can be particularly helpful when combined with another search option. For instance, if you were searching for a book by James Dobson on marriage, you could just search under Dobson in the author field. This would return over 100 items. But if you put Dobson in the author field and marriage in the keyword field, you would return books by Dobson specifically on or relating to marriage.

ISBN Search

You can search for titles by using the universal ISBN number if you have it. Most of CBD's books and other items do list the correct ISBN number, however some of our older titles do not. If you have trouble searching by ISBN, use the Title Search feature instead.

CBD Stock Number Search

Providing you have the CBD stock number, perhaps from our catalog, searching by our own product numbers can be the most accurate way to search. Obviously these types of searches are limited to items for which you know the stock numbers. Use this type of search to check availability of product and current price.

Browsing Categories

We have categorized our products by subject, which makes browsing for items in a specific subject category easier. We recommend using our browse function when you want to look for a variety of items in a subject category such as gift and clothing items. Also helpful and informative are the numerous subcategories within each large product group. For instance, browsing the Bible category reveals multiple groupings of Bible varieties.

Fuzzy Search

If you are not happy with your search results, try a fuzzy search, which will widen your search parameters and return more items. Fuzzy searches are available after you view your search results.
