OUR PERFECT WEAKNESS
And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for
you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.'
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. - 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9
While John was capable of behaving in the most sectarian, narrow-minded, unbending, reckless, and impetuous fashion, he nevertheless aged well. Under the control of the Holy Spirit, all his liabilities were exchanged for assets. Compare the young disciple to the aged patriarch, and you'll see that as he matured, his areas of greatest weakness developed into his greatest strengths. He eventually became a tenderhearted elder statesman of the early church, universally loved and respected for his devotion to Christ-allowing the Lord's strength to be made perfect in his weakness.
Take a few moments now to reflect on your own character and identify what you consider to be your greatest weakness. It's usually something that has made life difficult for you for many years. Present that to the Lord in prayer as a sacrifice and ask Him to demonstrate His strength through that particular weakness. He will be faithful to hear and to answer. We have his promise.
