"MAY 18"
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. - 1TIMOTHY 5:4
Before you know it, your parents will be as old as your grandparents. You probably won't notice it as it happens, but one day you'll see your mother rubbing her sore back or hear your father groan as he stands; then it will suddenly hit you that they aren't the parents of your childhood anymore. In time, you'll find yourself faced with having to parent your own parents. It's scary, unnatural, and lonesome.
What do you do as your parents grow older? The best thing is to let them know how much you love them-now an\d always. Do things for them without being asked. If something looks too heavy for Mom to lift, pick it up for her before she even starts bending over. And if Dad is looking for his glasses, help him out by letting him know they're on top of his head.
Keep in mind that your parents may someday need you to take care of them. No matter where life takes you, keep in touch and be there for them as they were for you.
Father, it’s hard watching my parents grow old. Give us all the patience and love we’ll need to make their later years as happy and full as possible.
