Even the hardest winter eventually gives way to spring, and signs of new life surround us. And yet nature has become irrelevant to many of us who live and work in a climate-controlled life. The closest most of us get to nature is when we're splashed by a taxi or the buses are thrown off schedule by snow and we're late for school. Nature is mostly a matter of inconvenience to us.
And yet nothing can make us feel as fully human as nature, if we get out there and really experience it. Spend some time out there, and your whole outlook on life can change. Nature has no patience with self-involved humans. It humbles us, sometimes it hurts us, but it also teaches us that God is pleased with all His creations, and we are only one of them.
Lord, sometimes I forget about the breadth of Your creation and feel I am the only one who counts. Give me the opportunity to become more involved with all of Your creation, so I can see myself in perspective.
