"MAY 13"
Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. - LEVITICUS 19:32
Parents have always taught basic manners... but lately manners have been ignored in our rush toward equality and self-expression. Life has become much less civil than it used to be.
We're not talking about how to tell a fish fork from a salad fork or the proper way to curtsy to royalty, neither of which has much to do with life today. We're talking about a general lack of respect for everyone, which leads to all kinds of undesirable social acts.
Manners are not meaningless rules that only apply to those who are well-off. They are about well-earned respect and consideration for others. Think about the consequences of your action the next time want to tell someone
exactly what you think of him. Is this an act that is going to make the world
a better place?
Father, my daily actions should be worthy of You. Help me show proper respect to all people, even when I’m upset and angry. Remind me of my manners and the great effect that even a simple thank you can have on the world.
