Profile - Steve Green

14 Years and 21 Recordings
Steve Green has spent over fourteen years in ministry as a solo music artist, and has just recently released his twenty-first recording, The Faithful. His solo career has produced seventeen number one hits, including "People Need the Lord," "The Mission," "Love One Another," and "God and God Alone." Steve has been recognized with six Dove Awards and four Grammy Award nominations. However, despite his success, Steve remains passionate in his faith and continues to acknowledge that it is by God�s power, and not his own, that he is able to sing. He says, "When I first began 14 years ago, I had no resources or position of strength to draw on. I knew the Lord was my only help. Nothing has changed. I am still desperately dependent on God. If anything, I realize more than ever that apart from him, I dare not attempt anything." Steve�s growing list of albums includes a variety of Spanish titles, and a number of Hide �Em in Your Heart recordings for children.

The Faithful
Discussing his latest album, Steve explains, "From the beginning of this project, several questions have been running through my mind. If these were the last songs I could record, what would I say? There was a groaning of renewed passion to experience God and an urgency to ask God for genuine revival. I want to add my voice to the voices of many others, who are picking up the strains of truth and righteousness and carrying the song of God's heart to all who will hear." The album's title track is dedicated to the Voice of the Martyrs organization, which publishes information about the persecuted church, "Safely Home" was written to comfort Christians who have lost loved ones, and "Roses" displays God's passion for the unborn.

The Green Family
A deeply committed family man, Steve lives with his wife, Marijean, and two children, Summer (age 16) and Josh (age 12). They recently moved into a house built on property that includes a new home for Steve's retired missionary parents. Steve's father suffers from Parkinson's disease, but it doesn�t discourage or frustrate Steve. He says, "It is a privilege to help care for my parents, after all they invested in my life and after years of serving Christ overseas."
