Meet Stephen Mansfield

Born in Georgia in 1958, Stephen Mansfield grew up in a military family stationed in Europe, an experience which gave him an early interest in history and international relations. After becoming a Christian at the age of eighteen, he turned down a football scholarship to attend Oral Roberts University, where he majored in history. He read an autobiography of Harry Truman during a Thanksgiving break and has been hooked on history ever since.

After college, Stephen spent ten years in West Texas pastoring and attending grad school. He earned a Master's in history and public policy at Abilene Christian University and a Doctorate in history and literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary. Then Stephen relocated to Nashville, where he pastored and wrote biographies about Churchill, Booker T. Washington, and George Whitefield. He also wrote a religious history of Tennessee commissioned by the Governor for that state's bicentennial. After two decades of pastoring, Stephen retired from the pastorate to devote himself to writing and speaking. His latest book about President Bush immediately rocketed up our best-sellers list. Stephen is passionate about communicating the message of destiny: that God created people and nations with a calling and purpose.
