Meet Mary Elizabeth Anderson
With a degree in elementary education and her gift of teaching, she has spent many years in public school and Sunday school classrooms. She has also spent many years leading girls through the Girl Scout and the 4H programs.
Her gift of writing has brought new and deeper understanding for parents, teachers and girls of the issues facing girls today. Although many issues have remained the same through the years, many are new in our faster paced world with two career or single mom households. Who girls turn to has also changed. Many used to turn to parents or teachers for answers to their concerns, and many still do. But many more are now are getting their information from TV or music stars. Mary has a clear message to girls and their parents and grandparents. God is listening and is always there in both in times of anger or hopelessness and in moments of peace on a quite summer afternoon. Mary shares with ‘tweens how to turn to God and be open to His answers.
Her articles and stories have appeared in over 100 publications including Guideposts for Kids, Children’s Highlights, Hopscotch, and Guide. She is a member of several professional writers' groups including Heart of America Christian Writers Network, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and Central Nebraska Writers Group.
Mary has had special training through the Stephen’s Ministry program and is equipped for this special care-giving ministry. Her work in the church as a lifetime member of the United Methodist church utilizes her gifts of teaching, singing, and leadership in the women’s groups.
Her services to the community include United Way, Red Cross, Foster Care Review Board, YWCA, Library Board and St. Francis Auxiliary.
Mary lives with her husband Don in Grand Island, Nebraska. Their love for travel has taken them to 16 countries and extensive travel in the United States. They have thee grown children and six grandchildren.
