Kent R. Hunter is Founder and President of Church Doctor Ministries. He has
served as a pastor in Michigan, Indiana, and South Australia. In the past
27 years, Kent has consulted over 1,000 churches from 54 denominations,
fellowships, and movements. He has worked with urban, rural, and suburban
churches.
Kent received his M.Div. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, a Ph.D. from
the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and the D.Min degree from Fuller
Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California. He is the author of 30 books on
the subject of church health, vitality, and the effectiveness of the church.
Recent releases include
Move Your Church to Action, A House Divided
(co-authored with Bob Whitesel), and
Discover Your Windows: Lining Up With
God’s Vision, all published by Abingdon Press.
Kent is a feature columnist for
Rev. magazine. He also has written the
cover article for the January/February 2003 issue of
Rev. magazine, “Your
Church Has Ten Windows: Where Are You Looking?” This magazine was
distributed at the February Promise Keepers Pastors and Leaders Conference
in Phoenix. Kent is also featured in the March/April 2003 issue of
Your
Church magazine in an article that evaluates church consultation ministries.
Kent is a frequent conference speaker. He has spoken at the National
Religious Broadcasters convention, the National Association of Evangelicals,
Joy Leadership Center, Break Forth Canada, the Robert H. Schuller Institute
for Successful Church Leadership, and numerous pastors conferences. He has
addressed groups on six continents. His wit and humor and love for the church, pastors, and leadership come through in his presentations. John Maxwell
calls Kent the nation’s authority on church vitality.
Kent says his reason for being on this earth is to help Christians and
churches become more effective for the Great Commission, to make disciples
of all peoples. He recognizes that America is the third largest mission
field in the world (behind China and India) and has a heart for pastors who,
in his perception, have the toughest career of anyone in the country. His
passion is to come alongside pastors and church leaders to provide
encouragement, direction, and focus, and to turn challenges into
opportunities for mission through the local church. For more information, visit his Web site at www.churchdoctor.com.
Kent lives on a certified tree farm in northeast Indiana with his wife,
Janet, and their two children, Laura and Jon.
