Meet Robin Lee Hatcher

When Robin Lee Hatcher started first grade she had only one goal in mind—to learn to read. When she didn’t learn how the first day, she told her mother there was no point going back. The start of her storytelling career came in fifth grade, when she told her friends that her mother was born in a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail. In high school, Robin wrote short stories and poems, but it was not until many years later that her writing career took off.

Prior to writing for the Christian market, Robin wrote 29 books in the 1980s and 90s. She has since written 9 novels including the Coming to America series, The Shepherd’s Voice, Whispers from Yesterday, The Forgiving Hour, Ribbon of Years, and Firstborn. She has also contributed to The Story Jar and The Storyteller’s Collection. Her future releases are Speak to Me of Love, in which actress Faith Butler must work as a housekeeper, Catching Katie, set in 1916 in which Katie is determined to win the vote for women and her friend Ben is determined to win her heart, and Beyond the Shadows: A Love Story.

Robin has won many awards for her writing. She is the winner of the 2000 Christy Award in the Romance category for Whispers from Yesterday, a 7-time finalist and 2-time recipient of Romance Writers of America (RWA)’s RITA Award, 2001 winner of RWA’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and Romantic Times’ Career Achievement Award in both 1994 and 1999.

Robin and her husband live in Idaho along with her mother, a cat, Delilah, and two dogs, Misty and Tiko. Robin and her husband have two grown daughters and four grandchildren.
