Meet Skip Heitzig

Skip Heitzig has been a variety of things in his lifetime ranging from a surfer and rebel in his youth, to founder and senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, one of the fastest growing churches in America. In 2001, he added the role of author with the release of Jesus Up Close, which answers the question, ‘what does an encounter with Jesus really look like?’ by examining the interactions of Jesus with Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, a prostitute, the apostle Paul, and others.

In addition to Jesus Up Close, Skip is also the author of How to Study the Bible and Enjoy It. In this book he simplifies the Bible and points out the unchanging relevance and transforming power. His upcoming book When God Prays, examines the lessons about how to pray according to God’s will that are found in John 17. This book also addresses questions like “How can we talk to God when life is reduced to ashes?” while urging us to look “upward, outward, inward, and forward” in our prayer lives.

Skip lives in Albuquerque with his wife, Lenya and their son, Nathan.
