is a Biblical scholar, professor and poet. Having served for many years as a Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Limestone College in South Caroline, he is currently the Executive Director of the Hilton Head College Center, where he teaches at both the Creative Retirement Center and in the Elderhostel Program. In addition to writing scholarly works , Bassett also writes poetry for literary magazines such as The Savannah Literary Journal and Negative Capability. He is the author of Love: The Song of Songs
, a an English translation of the Hebrew texts, loosely based on the King James Version.
Bassett lives in Hilton Head, South Carolina with his wife, Peg, and their twin sons, Michael and Jonathan.
