Meet Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is comprised of 285 voices and has won six Grammy Awards. It is directed by Carol Cymbala, the Senior Pastor, Jim’ Cymbala’s wife. While Carol is unable to read or write music, God has blessed her with the ability to create her own original music, which is then performed by a choir of vocally untrained church members.
The choir, itself, unifies a rather diverse group of people from all walks of life and faith. With lawyers, nurses, steet people and ex-crack addicts standing and singing together, the choir is truly unique and has brought the Word of God and love of Christ around the world. The choir’s most recent recording is I’ll Say ‘Yes,’ which is their twenty-fourth album since 1981. They have performed in New York City’s Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Paramount Theater, and a sold-out performance at the Madison Square Garden Theater.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers is a small core group within the choir oftens travels worldwide to places such as Korea and Japan. In 2006, the Singers performed in 23 cities within the United States alone.
