Meet Dallas Willard
Dallas Willard is most widely known as a professor of philosophy at the University of Southern California, where he served as the Director of the School of Philosophy. He has also taught at the University of Wisconsin, UCLA, and the University of Colorado. As a professor, he has published many philosophical works, most heavily concentrated on etensive translations of Edmund Husserl's early writings.
Within the Christian community, he is known as a Southern Baptist minister and author of many theological texts. In 2002, Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ was published, receiving Christianity Today's 2003 Book Award in the category of Spirituality. The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God was released in 1998 and won Christianity Today's "Book of the Year" for 1999. Other titles include The Spirit of the Disciplines: Understanding How God Changes Lives (1988), and Hearing God (1999), and In Search of Guidance (1984, 2nd edition in 1993).
Born in 1935 in Buffalo, Missouri, Dallas has been married to Jane Lakes, a marriage and family therapist, since 1955. They live in Southern California and have two children: John and Rebecca, and a granddaughter, Larissa.
