Stuart & Jill Briscoe

Telling the truth. Is there anything more noble, and needed, in today’s world? Stuart and Jill Briscoe have placed such an importance on standing for truth—God’s truth—that they’ve made it their life’s work.

Thousands of people around the world are touched by the Briscoe’s Telling the Truth Ministry, a non-profit media outreach committed "to not only send the gospel message to the world, but to better equip all of God’s people, from the pew to the pulpit, preparing them for His purpose." Stuart, a pastor of 50 years, and his wife, Jill, a popular women’s author and speaker, accomplish these goals through many channels. From their home base at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, they deliver the good news through: the Telling the Truth radio and tape ministry, the In Reality television program, the Just Between Us magazine for ministry wives and women in leadership, the Bridges Bible study series for women, and Briscoe Ministries, Inc. Briscoe Ministries is the company through which Stuart and Jill write their faith-building books—now totaling more than 80 between them! Their latest projects are the Daily Study Bible for Men and the Daily Study Bible for Women, two NLT versions of Scripture with commentary that addresses the specific concerns of men and women.

Jill has also written many books on her own--11 of which are due to be released within the next year! A few of these books are A Little Pot of Oil, Spiritual Warfare, Finding Joy, Finding Joy, The Comparison Trap, Cultivating Contentment, and Resolving Conflict. Stuart's solo books include Vital Truths to Change Your Life, One Year Book of Devotions for Men, as well as the Christianity in Practice Series, comprised of Transforming the Daily Grind, Genuine People, and 9 Attitudes that Keep a Christian Going and Growing. Long before Wisconsin and the rest of the world ever heard of the Briscoes, Stuart and Jill were serving the Lord in their homeland of England. Born in Millom, Cumbria (1930), Stuart was "volunteered to preach" by the age of 17. For 12 years his teaching and banking careers (he was educated in economics, accounting, and law as well) kept him quite busy. Then, after serving in the Royal Marines during the Korean War, Stuart met Jill, a native of Liverpool, a school teacher trained in Cambridge, and a devoted worker in youth evangelism. They married in 1958, moved to America in 1970, and have committed their lives to the cause of Christ ever since.

In addition to the responsibilities of their Telling the Truth Ministry, Stuart leads the non-denominational Elmbrook Church as its senior pastor (since 1970), with 6,000 people in weekly attendance, while Jill serves as advisor to Elmbrook’s Women’s Ministries and sits on the board of directors for World Relief and Christianity Today. Both are frequently asked to speak at conferences and mission organizations throughout the world.

The Briscoes have three children, David, Judy, and Peter, and 12 grandchildren.
